VALENZUELA City Mayor Weslie Gatchalian said on Friday that charges of grave threat and physical injury were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against SSg. Ernesto Camacho and SSg. Masong Cabudoy of Delpan Police Station in Manila for threatening a traffic enforcer of the city.

On July 15, 42-year-old Ronaldo David, a Traffic Management Office aide flagged down the two policemen along M. H. del Pilar Street in Barangay Mabolo for riding their motorcycles without helmets and wearing only slippers.

David said that instead of explaining their traffic violation, the two policemen threatened him with their guns. Terrified by their action, he said he fell off his motorcycle.

The two cops were pacified through the intervention of Cpl. James Dale Vargas de la Peña, another policeman.

“There is no place here in Valenzuela for rude and boastful policemen. We would not tolerate bad lawmen here, especially those who think they were superior to our traffic enforcers who were just doing their job,” Gatchalian said.

The mayor gave David a P10,000 reward for his faithful service.
