The members of the second-generation K-pop girl group 2NE1 are officially making their way back into the music scene.
In a video released on Monday, July 22, YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk said that the four-member group is getting back together for a global tour this year as part of their 15th anniversary.
“Today, I have some very exciting news. The first girl group YG announced, the first successful YG girl group, was 2NE1,” Hyun-suk said.
“The members of 2NE1 informed me that they’d like to hold a concert commemorating their 15th anniversary. So we caught up and happily discussed making it all happen within this year,” he continued.
He also revealed that the concert tour is set to kick off in October in Seoul, followed by stops in Osaka and Tokyo in November and December.
“2NE1 will continue their global tour into next year as well,” added Hyun-suk.
The founder also shared that the concert will relive all the memories that fans, who grew up listening to them, shared with 2NE1.
“I think this concert will be quite special. It resonates with those who grew up with 2NE1’s music, sharing those memories. And in the case of 2NE1, they have an incredible number of hit songs, so all the staff are working hard together to create a successful show,” he stated.
Composed of Sandara Park, CL, Park Bom, and Minzy, they made their debut in 2009 and are known for hit songs such as “Fire,” “I Don’t Care,” and “I Am the Best.”
