Four Chinese citizens were arrested in Angeles City, Pampanga for their alleged involvement in a kidnap-for-ransom syndicate.
In John Consulta’s Friday report on 24 Oras, one of the foreigners was injured after he tried to escape from the authorities inside an exclusive subdivision.
“Nung approaching kami sa area, ay namataan kami nung isa sa mga sa subjects, kaya agad na siyang nagtago. Napagalaman namin na tumalon sa likod ng bahay. Doon na nangkaroon habulan,” said Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Search Unit chief Rendel Sy.
(When we were approaching the area, we saw one of the subjects and he immediately hid. We found out that he went to the back of the house and we ran after him.)
“So after ilang blocks ng habulan, na-corner sa isang kanto nitong subdivision na ito, at bago pa kami dumating doon upang siya ay hulihin, nagbaril siya sa kaniyang sarili.”
(So after a few blocks, we cornered him in one of the streets in the subdivision and before we could catch him, he shot himself.)
Authorities conducted a search of the suspects’ house. Inside one of the rooms, the BI-FSU and the Angeles City Police discovered a pair of handcuffs, several guns and various paraphernalia such as tie wraps, a bat, a knife, and illegal drugs that they believe could be used for torture.
Meanwhile, the three other suspects were arrested in a follow-up operation following the apprehension of their female leader.
“Very alarming itong grupo na ito kasi involved sila doon sa mga recent na kidnappings at pagpatay dahil sinasabi nga na kahit nagbayad na ng ransom ay pinapatay pa rin nila yung kanilang mga victims,” said Sy.
(This is a very alarming group because they are involved in recent kidnappings and murders. Because even though you pay them ransom, they still kill their victims.)
The BI is now investigating the possible cohorts of the suspects and their victims. —Vince Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
