To combat the Philippines’ growing food insecurity crisis, SariSuki, the nation’s largest online agricultural platform, and ACEN, the Ayala Group’s energy platform, have launched the innovative Agro-Circularity in Renewable Energy (ACRE) program.

This strategic partnership aims to boost local food production by 50 percent above the national average, improve farmers’ livelihoods, and promote sustainability.

SariSuki will leverage its vertically integrated supply chain expertise to manage all stages of production, from cultivation to distribution, while ACEN will provide land for farming, starting with its Ilocos Norte wind farms.

The collaboration focuses on responsible land use, empowering farmers with training and modern tools, and ensuring efficient market access.

The initial phase in Ilocos Norte will cultivate various crops, including high-demand produce and potential exports like ube and pineapple. Farmers will receive training to become “agripreneurs” and adopt modern farming techniques.

The initiative not only addresses the pressing issue of food insecurity but also contributes to sustainable development by promoting responsible land use and empowering local communities.

The program’s success in Ilocos Norte will pave the way for its expansion to other ACEN project sites across the Philippines, creating a lasting impact on the country’s agricultural landscape.
