Incoming Education Secretary Sonny Angara on Sunday said he planned to discuss adjustments on job qualifications with the Civil Service Commission to cater to Senior High School graduates.

“Baka meron silang  suggestion kung paano matanggal na yung ganoong qualification na college gradute sa lahat ng trabaho kasi alam naman natin na hindi lahat ng  trabaho nangangailangang college degree,” Angara said in a Super Radyo dzBB interview.

(Maybe they have a suggestion on how to remove the college graduate qualification for some jobs since we all know that  not all jobs need to have a college degree.)

Angara also said he would talk to business groups to open more job opportunities to technical-vocation (tec-voc) SHS graduates.

These business groups include the Management Association of the Philippines,  the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of  Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Makati  Business Club.

Angara also said he would work on giving accreditation to the SHS graduates under the tec-voc strand and coordinate with the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority in addressing the lack of tec-voc trainers.

Angara said he expected a meeting with the undersecretaries and assistant secretaries of the Department of Education during the turnover ceremony on July 18.

The meeting will discuss the issues concerning the Education Department,  including the upcoming start of the Academic Year 2024-2025.

Angara earlier said President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered him to ensure the  SHS graduates “have the credentials and skills to get jobs” as the government promised.
