MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) vowed to deport a Chinese man previously found with firearms and suspected hacking equipment after finding out he has been overstaying in the Philippines.
Personnel of the agency’s intelligence division arrested 32-year-old Liu Yuhang while at the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) office in Camp Crame, Quezon City last July 4.
Liu has become an “undesirable alien” for not updating his visa since August 2022, according to BI intelligence division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. Liu arrived in the country in July 2018.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco warned, “Foreign nationals that pose a threat to national security should be arrested and deported.”
Liu is currently detained in the BI’s facility in Bicutan, Taguig awaiting deportation.
He was caught with various communication devices including three cell phones of different brands, a laptop, a computer central processing unit, an Apple tablet, radio receiver and an aerial drone during a raid in Barangay San Isidro, Makati City last May.
The PNP would look into the possibility of Liu being a spy.
