Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Governor Eli Remolona Jr. welcomed Walter Wassmer as the newest Monetary Board member, after administering his oath at the BSP head office in Manila on July 18, 2024.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Wassmer on July 10, 2024. The veteran banker will serve the remaining term of former MB member Bruce Tolentino until July 2026.
Wassmer served as a consultant and non-executive director of BDO Unibank Inc. from 2022 to 2024 before joining the Monetary Board.
Wassmer joins Governor and MB chairman Remolona, Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, Benjamin Diokno, Romeo Bernardo and Rosalia De Leon in the BSP’s highest policymaking body.
