A BAN on Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) will have no impact on listed digital entertainment firm DigiPlus Interactive Corp.’s operations as it is not a POGO nor an internet gaming licensee, company President Andy Tsui said.
DigiPlus, Tsui stressed, is a localized digital gaming company catering to customers based in the Philippines and as such is required to have physical gaming sites.
DigiPlus is also required to secure different licenses to operate its traditional and electronic bingo games, electronic gaming services, sports betting, specialty games and poker.
“Local gaming enthusiasts need not worry,” Tsui said. “[Our] top-of-the-line platforms will continue running without interruption, unaffected by the recent presidential announcement.”
DigiPlus said that it had paid over P13.1 billion in taxes to the Philippine government.
It also claimed to have provided employment to over 2,000 individuals across the country and allocated over P100 million toward corporate social responsibility projects.
DigiPlus shares closed at P14.82 apiece on Tuesday. The stock market was closed on Wednesday due to heavy rain and floods in Metro Manila.
