Wanted posters released by the Philippine National Police played a vital part in the arrest of Pauleen Canada, co-accused in the Anti-Trafficking Case of Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

According to a 24 Oras report by Marisol Abdurahman on Friday, Canada was arrested in a subdivision in Davao City following a tip sent to the  Interior Department on Tuesday.

She was found just 2 kilometers away from the regional office of the Davao Police.

“Nagtatago kasi. Mahirap talagang hanapin ang taong nagtatago. They know what to  do, they know what to expect pag andun ang mga pulis,” said PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil.

(It’s because she was hiding. It’s difficult to look for somebody hiding. They know what to do, they know what to expect when the police are there.)

The Interior  Department said that the wanted posters offering a P1 million reward for Canada’s arrest may have been a key factor that led to the arrest.

“Nakita [ng informant] ang isang babae na kamukha nasa litrato ng isang wanted poster na inilabas ng PNP,” said DILG  Secretary Benhur Abalos.

(The informant saw a woman who looked like the image in the wanted poster released by the PNP.)

Meanwhile, the government believes the remaining fugitives are still in the country.

Despite this, they did not abandon the possibility that they had moved overseas.

“Lumiliit na po ang mga pinagtataguan ninyo. Hindi kami titigil. (Your hiding places are getting smaller. We will not stop.) I will use [the] resources of [the] government to make sure that the ends of justice will be met,” said Abalos. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/DVM, GMA Integrated News
