Diplomatic community conveys solidarity with flood-hit Filipinos

The diplomatic community in the Philippines extended on Wednesday messages of solidarity and support to Filipinos affected by Super Typhoon ‘Carina.’ Many embassies expressed their readiness to assist, especially if requested by the Philippine government.

The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines conveyed its sympathy to Filipinos, stating, “To the families who have lost loved ones and those enduring hardships, our thoughts are with you. Let us hold on together in these tough times and stay safe.”

Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Hae Kyong Yu assured that the Australian Embassy in Manila is prepared to respond to requests for assistance.

“Australia offers its sympathies to communities affected by #CarinaPH. The Embassy continues to monitor the situation and is keeping contact with the Philippine government and partners. Australia is prepared to respond if requested,” Yu posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Echoing the same sentiment, European Union Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Veron and French Ambassador Marie Fontanel wished safety to all Filipinos in their respective posts also on X.

Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian assured that they are “ready to provide help and get through this trying time together.”

US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson stated that the Embassy is working closely with Philippine government agencies to provide assistance to those severely affected by floods.

“My thoughts and prayers are with all #FriendsPartnersAllies affected by the flooding and other severe effects caused by #CarinaPH. The US Embassy team is working closely with government agencies and is already providing assistance,” Carlson posted.
