A Department of Tourism (DOT) poster incorrectly placing the Banaue Rice Terraces in Benguet has been taken down at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 4 after receiving backlash on social media over the viral error.
The said poster was a publicity material promoting the Tourism Department’s “Love the Philippines” campaign.
Social media users observed that the poster has since been taken down as of Sunday evening.
However, the DOT has yet to release an official statement regarding the said material.
Although Benguet and Ifugao are both part of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the Banaue Rice Terraces are actually located in the latter province’s municipality of Banaue.
The destination is considered a National Cultural Treasure of the Philippines through Presidential Decree 262.
