VICE President Sara Duterte has confirmed the removal of the 75-member security detail consisting of personnel from the Philippine National Police Police Protection and Security Group from the Office of the Vice President.
“Our work is still ongoing so that we can deliver services to our countrymen — especially to remote or underserved communities in our country,” Duterte said in a statement.
Duterte added that she hopes Philippine National Police chief Rommel Marbil would use the policemen from her security detail in fighting criminal activities.
A special military unit, the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group (VPSPG), was tasked to protect the vice president and her family.
As of September 2023, 345 VPSPG personnel had been assigned to protect Duterte.
