Enchong Dee, honored with the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in GomBurZa at the 7th Eddys by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), humbly expressed his feelings about his achievement.
Despite the recognition, Dee admitted feeling that his portrayal of Father Jacinto Zamora fell short of his expectations.
“In truth, I feel that what I did wasn’t enough,” Dee acknowledged. “Each person has their perception and opinion. Nevertheless, I’m grateful for those who appreciated the effort I put into bringing Father Jacinto Zamora to life. It’s a deeply personal story, and I’m incredibly happy.”
Dee, reflecting on the project, emphasized, “Completing the film itself was a victory—a gift from God. Winning this award feels like a bonus and inspires me to do even more.”
Regarding his nomination experience, Dee confessed, “I was nervous, knowing the competition included seasoned actors like Roderick Paulate, Keempee de Leon, JC Santos, and Nanding Josef. When they called my name, it was surreal. Winning isn’t guaranteed in such situations, so delivering my acceptance speech was on my mind.”
Proud to contribute to GomBurZa, which serves as an educational reference, Dee also shared his excitement about returning to soap operas with ABS-CBN.
“It’s another advocacy-driven project, which we’ll tackle in a lock-in taping setup to fully embody the character,” he disclosed. Reflecting on his previous soap opera work, Dee expressed his anticipation, stating, “Being part of a teleserye brings you closer to the audience daily.”
