Filipinos are well known for their warm and hospitable nature, which makes visitors feel right at home wherever they are. This is one of the reasons why a lot of travelers tend to come back after visiting the country.
The Grand Westside Hotel by Megaworld Hotels & Resorts embodies this distinct Filipino characteristic in its operations. It is the country’s largest hotel with an impressive 1,530 rooms. Strategically located in the Westside City township, it is the second hotel to be built in this area, conveniently close to entertainment and business centers.
Boasting 19 floors and two towers, the hotel takes on a bright and welcoming design that takes inspiration from the waves and Sampaguita flowers, with several art installations found throughout the development.
The expansive hotel provides various room options, including superior rooms, deluxe rooms, family rooms, junior suites, executive suites, premier executive suites, and presidential suites.
Since its opening on June 22, 300 rooms have been operational, which is about 20 percent of its capacity. General Westside Hotel General Manager Joe Fijardo said that as the hotel was only in its first phase of operations, it is projected to have its full turnover by the end of the year.
Guests will also be able to enjoy the various wellness and leisure facilities that the hotel has to offer, which are all located on the 5th floor together with a gorgeously designed open area filled with several seats and tables. The amenities include a fitness hub, a steam and sauna, a kiddie pool, a swimming pool with a jacuzzi, and a pool bar.
The hotel also has a variety of food establishments that are perfect for foodies or guests who are looking to satisfy their cravings. Café by Westside serves delicious local and international dishes to guests all day with comfortable tables and chairs providing a high-quality dining experience. Guests can also order specially crafted drinks at the Grand Westside’s Zabana Bar in the hotel lobby and the Plunge Bar at the Open Deck on the 5th floor.
A specialty restaurant called LaMeza is also set to open sometime this year which will provide special dishes from the local cuisine mixed with a touch of modernity, featuring the creations of Grand Westside Hotel Executive Chef Christopher Ben Lugtu.
Apart from its accommodations and amenities, the hotel also takes pride in its sustainability efforts as it is committed to being an eco-friendly establishment. Its lights in the hallways utilize motion sensors, which automatically brighten and dim depending on whether someone is walking down the hall to save on electricity. It also uses bamboo straws for its beverages.
Fijardo noted that the hotel is also set on more sustainable projects in the future such as the use of solar panels and the hiring of a sustainability manager who will focus on fostering eco-friendly efforts in the hotel’s operations.
With future developments still down the line such as the construction of the 2nd floor to accommodate several shops and retailers which have yet to be revealed as well as the bridge which will connect to future establishments within the township, Grand Westside Hotel aims to provide new leisure experiences to its guests.
The hotel currently has its “Sneak Peak” introductory promotion which provides a special discount for guests. For only P5,500, guests can avail an overnight stay in a superior room together with breakfast for 2 and 20 percent off on the hotel’s F&B dining outlets. The promo is valid until Sept. 30.
