MANILA, Philippines — Eligible companies have until Sept. 14 to file for exemptions from the latest wage hike order for the National Capital Region (NCR), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said yesterday.

“As in any wage order, and as provided for in the NWPC (National Wages and Productivity Commission) Omnibus Rules on Minimum Wage Determination, (companies) may apply to the RTWPB (Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board) for exemption from the wage increase,” DOLE-NCR said in a social media post.

It added that those eligible to apply are retail/service establishments regularly employing not more than 10 workers.

Companies affected by natural calamities and/or human-induced disasters are also qualified for exemption.

The RTWPB-NCR earlier approved an increase of P35 in the daily minimum wage rate in Metro Manila. It took effect last July 17.

The increase has resulted in minimum wage adjustments from P610 to P645 for the non-agriculture sector; and from P573 to P608 for the agriculture sector, service and retail establishments employing 15 or fewer workers and manufacturing establishments regularly employing less than 10 workers.
