MANILA, Philippines — Floods were reported in several areas in Metro Manila due to the heavy rains caused by the southwest monoon or habagat.

The MMDA said it monitored: -gutter deep waters in Balintawak both northbound and southbound;

-gutter deep waters were along Edsa Shaw southbound.

The MMDA said they expected more areas to experience floods as the heavy rains continued.

Meanwhile, the Marikina River has begun rise, nearing the 14-meter mark as of posting time. The first alert level is raised once waters reach 15 meters.

Under the alarm system, level 1 is when the water is 15 meters above sea level, which means residents in affected areas should “prepare;” level 2 is when the water is 16 meters above sea level, which means “evacuate” and level 3 is when the water is 18 meters above sea level, which would authorize the local government to enforce a “forced evacuation.”
