“You know, that’s my promise to all of you. … My office goes to those places to help [those in need] to the best of our ability and leave a smile during their grief,” said Senator Go in Filipino.

He thanked the Manila local government, led by Mayor Honey Lacuna, Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto and Barangay 519 officials.

Encouraging the 400 affected families present during his visit, Go emphasized that he was committed to aiding their recovery.

The families received grocery packs, canned goods, snacks, vitamins, masks, and shirts from the senator himself. A select few received basketballs, volleyballs and shoes.

Go also continues to champion the establishment of the Department of Disaster Resilience (DDR) through his filed Senate Bill (SB) 188.

This proposed bill aims to strengthen the nation’s disaster risk reduction, emergency preparedness and response capabilities, ensuring swift recovery post-disasters.

Additionally, Go highlighted SB 2451, the Ligtas Pinoy Centers bill, in which he is one of the authors and co-sponsors.

This proposed legislation seeks to create permanent, fully equipped evacuation centers nationwide, enhancing the country’s readiness for future emergencies.
