SEN. Bong Go on Monday appealed to the Philippine National Police (PNP) leadership to shun politics and be loyal to their sworn duty to serve all.
The senator made the call as he echoed Vice President Sara Duterte’s sentiment against PNP chief Rommel Marbil, who ordered the pullout of her security detail.
Duterte lashed out at Marbil, saying his move was a “clear case of political harassment.”
“VP Inday Sara, hindi ka nag-iisa (you are not alone),” Go said in a statement he posted on Facebook.

Go said that as vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Order and a citizen, “I am deeply concerned about recent incidents involving our Philippine National Police.”
“I would like to remind the [PNP] administration and to the entire national police force to remain loyal to their duties and not to allow themselves to be used for any political agenda,” he said in Filipino.

“Don’t be selective [in serving the people]. Don’t politicize. Just do the right thing without favoring anyone,” he added.
Marbil earlier said that police personnel from the Vice Presidential Protection Division were pulled out because more policemen had to be deployed in the National Capital Region and that there was no immediate threat against her.
