SEN. Bong Go urged the government to address several pressing issues affecting Filipinos, such as inflation.
He made the call following the result of a Pulse Asia survey which showed that Filipinos are most concerned about the rising cost of goods and services.
The survey conducted from June 17–24, 2024, showed that 72 percent of Filipino adults firmly believe that controlling the spiraling prices of basic commodities should be immediately addressed by the government.
“That's true, 72 percent of respondents, the majority of Filipinos, are concerned about the rising prices of goods and services. This means that expenses are high these days,” said Go.
He emphasized the need for prompt government intervention to alleviate the burden of the poor.
“Prioritize helping the poor, those in need, especially the farmers. Government interventions should help the farmers,” he added.
Go highlighted the Malasakit Centers' crucial role in providing support and promoting health.
“These Malasakit Centers are a big help to the poor because when you get sick, you don't need to dig into your pockets as they will assist you with your hospitalization,” he said.
