A world class 10-storey Women’s Health and Child Care Specialty Center is going to be constructed in the Bicol Region. This specialty center will be the first of its kind outside Metro Manila, according to House Appropriations Chair and Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co.
Co spearheaded its groundbreaking ceremony at the Bicol Regional Health and Medical Center (BRHMC) Compound in Legazpi City on Tuesday, July 16. “Think of how this will benefit our mothers, children and the entire family,” he said in his remarks delivered in Tagalog.
“They won’t need to travel long distances just to get medical attention. Finally, we can avail of medical services without the road trip,” Co added, sharing his long-held aspiration to establish a premier medical facility in Bicol that can provide quality healthcare services.
The state-of-the-art facility will be equipped with the latest medical technology, to guarantee accurate and effective diagnoses and treatments and ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care.
Once the hospital is operational, transplant surgeries may be conducted as it aims to accommodate 2,000 beds. Co urged BRHMC director Dr. Eric Raymond Raborar to have medical practitioners get the necessary training abroad.
“We will take care of the construction of the hospital, and also the facilities and equipment. Perhaps you can start sending our doctors overseas to train on the latest surgical procedures,” Co told Raborar.
Co credited President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and House Speaker Martin Romualdez for their clear vision, which guided the development of the project.
The Women’s Health and Child Care Specialty Center is part of the Marcos administration’s Legacy Specialty Hospitals initiative aimed at offering high-quality medical services for heart, cancer, kidney and lung diseases.
“All these projects are for the betterment of every Filipino family. And with the President and the Speaker’s unwavering support for Bicolanos, our dream for a better and more prosperous future is now a reality,” Co stressed.
