Historical commission celebrates Apolinario Mabini’s 160th birth anniversary

The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) celebrated the 160th birth anniversary of historical figure Apolinario Mabini with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Mabini Shrine in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Held on July 23, the event featured performances by the Bagong Himig Serenata, Maharlika Dance Artists, and PUP Harana String Co., which continued despite the relentless downpour.

Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin Nieto was the guest of honor for the celebration. Other notable figures in attendance included NHCP OIC-Deputy Executive Director for Administration Rosario V. Sapitan, National Council on Disability Affairs Regional Programs Coordinator Delfina J. Baquir, PUP President Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, and Gran Logia Nacional de Filipinas Gran Maestre Donwell Valdez.

In addition to the event at PUP Sta. Mesa, President Bongbong Marcos Jr. led a ceremony for the national hero at the Mabini Shrine in Tanauan City, Batangas, where he toured the NHCP Museo ni Apolinario Mabini after the program. The museum in Tanauan showcases Mabini’s life story from his childhood to adulthood, highlighting his struggles and significant contributions to the history of the Philippines.
