Senator Risa Hontiveros on Monday again urged suspended Bamban Mayor Alice Guo to face the allegations against her at the Senate, noting that in her recent Facebook post, Guo insisted she is a Filipino and called for a halt to the spread of false information about her.

“Mayor Alice Guo o Guo Hua Ping, kung nakakapag-Facebook ka. Siguro naman kaya mo nang humarap sa Senado. Ginamit mo pa ang Facebook para sa pagpapakalat ng fake news na Pilipino kayo. Hindi ka Pilipino,” Hontiveros said in a virtual interview with reporters.

“Ang titibay na ng ebidensya. Nakakainsulto sa mamamayan na ginamit mo ang nasyonalidad namin para magpayaman, manloko, at magpasok ng mga POGO na puro krimen ang dala sa bansa,” she added.

(Mayor Alice Guo, if you can use Facebook, you can face the Senate. You even used Facebook to spread fake news that you are a Filipino. You are not a Filipino. The evidence is strong enough to prove that. It is an insult to our Filipinos that you used our nationality to gain wealth, fool us, and facilitate the entry of POGOs, which only brought crime to the country.)

In the same virtual press conference, Hontiveros alleged links that supposedly connected Guo to a criminal syndicate behind POGOs.

In her presentation, Hontiveros, citing information from the Anti-Money Laundering Council, said Guo’s company, Baofu, had direct transactions with the joint account of a Chinese citizen who is an incorporator of Hong Sheng– the raided POGO firm in Bamban– and former Presidential Adviser Michael Yang’s brother.

The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality is investigating Guo’s supposed involvement in the raided illegal POGO hub in Bamban.

There were also questions about Guo’s citizenship due to her inconsistent testimony about her background and the supposed dubious documents on her Filipino citizenship.

However, Guo denied involvement in illegal POGO activities and maintained that she was a Filipino citizen.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) recently confirmed that Guo and Chinese passport holder Guo Hua Ping have the same fingerprints.

Her school records at Grace Christian High School also showed that she has a Chinese birth certificate and her declared parents are Chinese. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
