The short answer is “yes.”
Jessy Mendiola kept things lighthearted during a recent livestream media interview. While her name hadn’t been called yet, she was playfully hiding behind the cameraman filming the event. As soon as the host announced her arrival, Jessy emerged with a radiant smile, instantly greeting the press with her confident presence and infectious energy.
Yes, Jessy Mendiola is officially back.
After a five-year hiatus, celebrated her homecoming to ABS-CBN’s Star Magic. Looking resplendent, Jessy couldn’t contain her enthusiasm.
“Finally, after five years, I’m back home,” she declared, her voice brimming with joy. “I’m overwhelmed with happiness to be back with my Star Magic family.”
The break, she explained, was a time for healing and growth. Now, with a clear head and a heart full of joy, she’s ready to dive back in and continue her journey as an actress, and even a content creator.
Jessy’s maturity shone through as she spoke about her return. “I’m entering the industry again with the right mindset,” she revealed. However, the challenges of balancing work and family life, particularly with a young daughter, were a concern. Thankfully, management assured her of their support, both professionally and personally.
Her husband, Luis Manzano, is her pillar of strength. Jessy openly acknowledged his support for her showbiz comeback. “He’s the one pushing me to accept roles like the ones I played before,” she shared.
Jessy addressed the possibility of taking on sensual roles, admitting it might require some convincing. But with her husband’s support, she’s ready to face any challenge.
“He’s the one pushing me to accept sexy roles, to be honest,” Jessy revealed.
“Having a husband who understands the industry makes everything so much easier.”
This comeback is all about embracing new opportunities. Jessy is eager to hone her skills and is open to workshops to ensure a smooth return. She’s particularly excited about exploring other roles on television and in films
“I want to do action and since I’m a mom now, I can accept mother roles and I’d be more than unwilling to play the character,” she said adding that she hasn’t done much hosting in the past and she’s going to be open to doing that if there’s an opportunity.
While specific plans are yet to be announced, her dream list of actors to work with is impressive. Working alongside veterans like Vilma Santos, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Piolo Pascual is a clear indication of her ambitious spirit. A reunion with her former on-screen partner Jericho Rosales would be another exciting prospect for fans.
“I have a long list, but I want to do a project with Luis, too. I haven’t done any project with him,” Jessy said.
Meanwhile, the possibility of becoming the First Lady of Lipa City, should Luis pursue politics, was met with a playful quip.
“Leading lady muna ako ng ABS-CBN,” she quipped.
