HOUSE Labor and Employment panel chairman and Rizal 4th District Rep. Fidel Nograles expressed his support for the inclusion of short courses into the K–12 curriculum to improve the employability of graduates.

“Any project that would give a leg up to our graduates so they can find jobs as soon as possible is welcome,” Nograles said.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered incoming Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara to study the creation of mini-courses, ranging from three to six months to a year, for senior high school students.

Marcos said the K–12 program was unable to achieve its goal of improving the employability of graduates 10 years after its implementation.

Nograles added that the creation of short courses needs coordinated effort.
