MAERSK Air Cargo (MAC), the air freight arm of global logistics giant A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk), celebrated a milestone with the delivery of its first-ever Boeing 777F freighter. Maersk’s air freight customers in China and Europe will experience significant benefits from the addition of the Boeing 777F. The new aircraft will be deployed on Maersk’s Europe-China routes, initially operating three flights per week, with the potential to increase to six. The 777F offers increased capacity, shorter transit times, and faster handling at origin and destination airports, ensuring improved overall service quality.

Maersk ordered two 77Fs in November 2021 as part of a fleet modernization initiative. Delivery of the second aircraft is expected in Q3 2024. With the addition of the 777Fs, Maersk Air Cargo’s owned and controlled fleet will consist of two Boeing 777Fs and 20 Boeing 767Fs.

“We are thrilled to take delivery of these new aircraft and upgrade our fleet with two of the most reliable and capable freighters available. This move positions Maersk Air Cargo at the forefront of cargo aviation. The 777F offers more than double the payload capacity of our 767Fs and boasts the world’s most fuel-efficient engines with GE90 technology,” Lars Jordahn, head of Maersk Air Cargo, said.Narin Phol, executive vice president and chief product officer for Logistics and Services at Maersk, said the addition of these Boeing 777Fs “represents a significant leap forward for Maersk Air Cargo.””This not only allows us to create a more efficient route structure but also ensures greater availability of air freight capacity for our customers, especially with the growing demand for integrated supply chain solutions,” he said.

“In today’s dynamic logistics environment, customers are seeking streamlined supply chains with fewer service providers. The 777Fs enhance our ability to offer increased visibility, resilience, and flexibility during disruptive times,” Phol added.
