MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested a man with an active warrant of arrest for charges related to women and child abuse.

The 37-year-old passenger, whose name has been withheld, was supposed to check in for his flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 when a joint team composed of elements from the Philippine National Police, the Manila International Airport Authority, and personnel from the Pasay Police Station Sub-Station 9 arrested him.

Initial reports indicated that the man was accused of violating Republic Act 9262, also known as Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004.

Based on the arrest warrant, the man needed to pay a bail bond amounting to P24,000.

Aviation police said that the suspect was placed under the custody of the Pasay Police Station Sub-station 9 (Villamor) for processing and documentation.
