MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil yesterday honored PNP operatives who were killed in the line of duty.
“Their courage must inspire us to perform our duties with the highest level of professionalism,” Marbil said.
“These brave men and women sacrificed their lives to protect every Filipino and safeguard our communities from criminal threats,” he added.
From Jan. 1 to July 13, 16 police officers were killed and 40 were injured.
Of the number, four policemen were wounded in Tondo, Manila last week as they served an arrest warrant for a man wanted for murder. The suspect was killed after he reportedly traded shots with police.
