MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared August 14 this year as a special non-working holiday in Mawab, Davao de Oro in light of the town’s founding anniversary celebration, Malacañang announced Friday.
In Proclamation 628, Marcos recognized that it would be a good gesture to commemorate the special day.
“It is fitting and proper that the people of the Municipality of Mawab be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” the President said in his proclamation.
The proclamation was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by the authority of the President on July 11, 2024.
Mawab is a third-class municipality in the Philippines. It is part of Davao de Oro in the Davao Region in Mindanao.
It has a population of 39,631 as of the 2020 Census, and a land area of 136.10 square kilometers. It consists of 11 barangay (villages).
In the 2022 elections, the municipality has 28,094 registered voters.
