LISTED mining firm Marcventures Holdings Inc. (MHI) on Tuesday said that investment banker Augusto Serafica had been elected as its new president, effective immediately.
Marcventures told the stock exchange that Serafica’s election followed a stockholders’ meeting last July 26.
Serafica, who serves as chairman of the company’s investment committee, has been a director since 2013. He was also part of the core management team that developed the company’s nickel business in 2008.
“Mr. Serafica is also the president and director of Bright Kindle Resources Inc. and Armstrong Capital Holdings Corp., respectively,” Marcventures said.
“As a seasoned investment banker, he was formerly the managing director of Asian Alliance Investment Corporation and Asian Alliance Holdings & Development Corporation,” the company said.
“As the incoming president, he will actively oversee the strategic initiatives and the company’s partnership development thrusts.”
MHI has four subsidiaries: Marcventures Mining and Development Corp., BrightGreen Resources Corp., Alumina Mining Philippines Inc. and Bauxite Resources Inc.
Serafica, a certified public accountant, is also a trustee of the Asian Institute of Management Scientific Research Foundation, where he completed his master’s degree in business management.
MarcVenture shares closed up 1.39 percent at 73 centavos apiece on Tuesday.
