The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday held the groundbreaking of its five-storey Annex Building under construction at its new office in Pasig City.
The building will serve as a model for sustainable and climate-resilient government infrastructure, featuring solar panels, rainwater harvesting technology, and advanced earthquake resilience features.
It will also feature function halls for events, seminars, and trainings, as well as an emergency evacuation center.
The MMDA has also launched an enhanced Communications and Command Center (CCC), which will serve as a central point for information management, decision-making, and leadership.
“Our Communications and Command Center will be the nerve center for information management and decision-making, guiding our efforts in traffic control, disaster response, and public safety, MMDA Chairman Don Artes said.
The CCC is equipped with the latest surveillance and monitoring technology, smart-enabled devices, and an advanced multi-display video wall system.
The establishment of both the Annex Building and CCC aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directives to enhance public safety and promote resilience in the face of natural disasters.
