MANILA, Philippines — The number coding scheme will be in effect on Monday, July 22, 2024, the
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will deliver his third State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday.
“We received inquiries if the number coding scheme will be suspended. We will not suspend it because if we do, the volume of vehicles will rise and traffic jams will worsen,” MMDA acting chairman Romando Artes told reporters.
Based on the MMDA traffic plan for SONA 2024, a zipper lane will be opened on the southbound portion of Commonwealth Avenue for guests and officials.
Meanwhile, the Batasan-IBP Road will be closed at 8 a.m.
The MMDA had issued alternate routes: northbound motorists coming from Elliptical Road should take North Avenue, then make a right turn at Mindanao Avenue, then right turn to Sauyo Road or take Quirino Highway to their destination.
Those going south coming from Commonwealth Avenue were advised to take Sauyo Road or Quirino Highway, then make a left turn at Mindanao Avenue, then another left at North Avenue to their destination.
Meanwhile, light vehicles from C5 Road were advised to turn left at Magiting St., right at Maginhawa St., and turn left at Mayaman St. to Kalayaan Avenue to reach their destination.
Trucks coming from C-5 along Katipunan Avenue should take Luzon Flyover and then turn left at Congressional Avenue.
The MMDA will deploy more than 1,320 personnel for traffic management, road clearing, and crowd control.
