Residents of Multinational Village in Parañaque City welcomed a Mindanao lawmaker’s appeal for the public’s help in flushing out foreign POGO workers who may have gone underground following President Marcos’ decision to ban their enterprises.
In a message to the Manila Standard, Geraldine Natividad, an organizer of the group I AM MULTI, said their members are encouraged that “government officials are now actively participating in the drive to address all POGO operations, as emphasized by [2nd District of Surigao del Norte] Representative Robert Ace Barbers.”
She underscored that many homeowners have complained about the unsettling presence of thousands of foreign POGO workers in their middle-class subdivision, which has been shrugged off by local government and police officials until recently.
“As a group, we continue to report, monitor, and communicate with relevant government agencies to uphold transparency and integrity in this process. We are more than willing to help in any way we can to ensure that the operations are conducted lawfully and justly, safeguarding the rights and well-being of all residents in our community,” I AM MULTI said in a statement.
“Furthermore, this call for public cooperation can give a moral boost to our soldiers who are fighting for our sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea… By working together to address internal issues like POGO operations, we strengthen our resolve and demonstrate our commitment to the rule of law and national security,” the group added.
I AM MULTI earlier said that POGOs were being protected by coddlers in key sectors but refused to be more specific as they feared reprisal.
