Over 1.1 million nutritious bread were distributed by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) to select schools with a high incidence of malnutrition among children from May 2023 to April 2024.

Based on the OVP’s accomplishment report posted Tuesday, a total of 1,182,892 buns were allocated to 14,472 student beneficiaries of the “Pansarap Program.”

The Pansarap Program is the OVP’s nutritional supplementation program targeting school children identified as “severely wasted.”

This initiative is aligned with the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) guidelines and lasts for 120 days “to ensure adequate and sustained nutritional support for these children.”

Meanwhile, the OVP said 119,234 individuals and 30,120 families have benefitted from its medical assistance and burial assistance programs, respectively.

The OVP’s Libreng Sakay program also provided free transport service to 1,000,682 commuters.

Vice President Sara Duterte’s office also distributed some 200,000 bags and planted 266,072 trees under its “Pagbabago” campaign.

A total of 205,692 families also became beneficiaries of the OVP’s relief operations.

“May we not squander the opportunity to lead, serve, and lift people up—so that they become part of our mission to build the nation,” Duterte said in a statement. —Giselle Ombay/KBK, GMA Integrated News
