MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel assisted in the evacuation of hundreds of residents in flood-hit areas in the provinces of Batangas and Occidental Mindoro.
In the village of Maguihan in Lemery, Batangas, more than 200 residents were evacuated by elements of Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) as big waves spawned by Typhoon “Carina” smashed into the coast with seawater reaching houses dotting the coastal area.

According to the local government, affected residents were taken to the nearest evacuation center and given relief assistance.
Meanwhile, PCG personnel also assisted scores of displaced residents in the village of Sto. Niño, Sablayan town in the island province of Occidental Mindoro. Responders from the Department of Social Welfare and Development are serving the residents in evacuation centers.
