COMMUTERS affected by road closures on Monday during the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will be offered free rides by the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Public Information Officer chief Col. Jean Fajardo said that PNP’s mobile assets will be escorted to pick up stranded passengers.
Likewise, Fajardo said the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will offer free rides to the public.

Earlier in the week, the MMDA first issued a traffic rerouting plan for the SONA, saying there would be a zipper lane on the southbound portion of Commonwealth Avenue.
Meanwhile, the Batasan-IBP Road will be closed starting at 8 a.m. Monday.
As part of the security measures during the SONA, the PNP will be using state-of-the-art, anti-drone guns that are capable of shooting down military-grade drones.
According to Quezon City Police District director BGen. Redrico Maranan, the anti-drone guns have powerful specs and can take down almost any kind of drone.
This is part of the no-fly zone implemented within a 10-kilometer radius over the Batasang Pambansa complex.
Maranan said all drones spotted within the radius will be shot down or disabled.
He said operators of drones that enter the 10-kilometer no-fly zone could face criminal charges.
The PNP will go on full alert on Sunday in preparation for Monday’s SONA.
At least 23,000 police personnel from the National Capital Region Police Office will ensure security during the SONA, while 1,000 policemen from Central Luzon and Calabarzon will provide assistance.
