MANILA, Philippines — Scattered and isolated rain showers and thunderstorms would be experienced in most parts of the archipelago due to the inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ), an imaginary line where the air from the northern and southern hemisphere meets, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.
Despite the cloudy weather conditions, the country would remain storm-free for the next two days, weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In particular, Aurelio said the ITCZ will be affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
He said Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), SOCCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos), Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte and Davao Occidental would likely experience overcast skies with scattered downpours and thunderstorms.
The same weather system (ITCZ) is affecting Bicol Region, the rest of Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Visayas, and Mindanao where isolated rain showers would prevail.
Over the next 24 hours, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon would similarly experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms, the state-run weather agency said.
