MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested four individuals allegedly involved in stealing a vehicle that was found listed for sale in an online Marketplace.

In a report, the Southern Police District (SPD) said a black Toyota Alphard was reportedly stolen after the driver parked the vehicle and left it unattended in front of a convenience store in Barangay Tambo in Parañaque City on June 29.

On Wednesday afternoon, police received a report from a Malaysian national who saw the stolen vehicle listed for sale on the Facebook Marketplace for P2.8 million.

After coordinating with the police, the Malaysian national posed as a buyer and met with the seller in a mall in Pasay City at 11:50 p.m. on the same day.

The two suspects, who were waiting at the meet-up place, were immediately arrested by the police upon confirming their identities as sellers, the SPD said.

However, another accomplice, who was driving the stolen vehicle, managed to escape.

On Friday, the SPD reported that another suspect was arrested after a hot pursuit operation in Barangay Sto. Niño in Parañaque City. Recovered from him were a 9mm pistol and two magazines with live ammunition.

During investigation, the driver of the vehicle confessed that he had intentionally left the vehicle unattended.

A follow-up operation is ongoing to recover the stolen vehicle.
