According to Charlene Gonzalez and Aga Muhlach, it seemed natural for their children Andres and Atasha to enter showbiz, given their exposure to cameras during commercial shoots. However, they were still surprised when the twins decided to enter the world that had made their parents and relatives household names.
“We were surprised when they expressed interest in the entertainment industry,” Charlene admitted. “Growing up, we provided a comfortable environment where they could explore their passions.”
Aga and Charlene allowed Andres and Atasha to enroll in separate schools across different countries because the couple respects their children’s decisions and aspirations.
“Our decision to enroll them in different schools and countries stems from our desire to let them develop their own identities,” affirmed Aga. “Their words and choices hold significance within our family.”
Charlene echoed this sentiment, emphasizing their supportive yet non-intrusive approach: “While we’re here to guide them, we understand the importance of letting them face life’s challenges independently. Hardships are the best teachers.”
Andres and Atasha, appreciative of their parents’ guidance, expressed admiration: “They’re not stage parents to us; they’re role models we look up to. They teach us about morals and being good people.”
Looking ahead, Aga dreams of seeing his children excel as individuals: “My dream for them is to shine as Andres and Atasha, in any field they choose.”
Charlene Gonzalez added, “Respect and dedication to their work are paramount. Nothing worthwhile comes without effort.”
The Muhlach family stars in an upcoming sitcom on TV5, airing on July 21. Entitled Da Pers Family, the TV show marks the first time the family is working on a project together.
“If ten years ago or even two years ago you’d asked us if we saw ourselves doing this show, I’d have said no. But we’re happy that we’re doing this because the show also showcases our family dynamics,” Charlene said.
Directed by Danni Caparas, Da Pers Family also stars Roderick Paulate, Bayani Agbayani, Chad Kinis, Sam Coloso, Kedebon Colim, and Ces Quesada.
Da Pers Family follows the story of the Persival family and The Bake Haus of You, a struggling business owned by Aga and Charlene’s characters. Conflict starts brewing when Aga’s former BFF (portrayed by Roderick) tries to drive them out of business. This brings the Persivals closer together as they battle it out to save their bakery.
The sitcom airs 7:15 p.m. on TV5, with catch-up airings on Sari-Sari Channel, every Monday at 7:00 p.m.
