The voting record on the third and final reading approval on the proposed Absolute Divorce Bill has been corrected during the plenary session of the House of Representatives on Monday.
House Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga lawmaker Aurelio Gonzales, Jr. sad the final validated result of nominal voting is 126 ‘yes’ votes, 109 ‘no’ votes and 20 abstentions.
The earlier voting record stated 131 affirmative votes.
“In view thereof, let the records reflect the said result,” Gonzales said.
Nobody contested Gonzales’ move before the plenary.
Gonzales then proceeded to adjourn the session until 3 pm Tuesday, July 30.
The House-approved Absolute Divorce Bill explicitly provides for domestic violence and marital infidelity as grounds for divorce which are not stated in the Family Code. —RF, GMA Integrated News
