House Deputy Majority Leader and Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin on Wednesday denied Sen. Imee Marcos’ supposed lineup of senatorial candidates to be endorsed by her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., in the 2025 national and local elections.
“As far as I know, there is nothing final yet. There were discussions among political party leaders, names were recommended, put forward, but this is just the first step,” Garin, a member of Lakas-CMD, told the media in a mix of English and Filipino.
Garin said consultation among members of various political parties to reach a consensus has yet to be conducted in order to come up with the final list of administration candidates in the coming polls.
“The final decision will rest on what the majority believes and of course, the clearance from our president and leaders of political parties. In other words, maybe the list is not true,” Garin said.
Her statement was also echoed by South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr., president of the ruling PFP, who also denied the supposed administration’s senatorial lineup.
Imee had admitted that she was not in the meeting where the supposed lineup was discussed.
