THE Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Sunday welcomed the House of Representative’s allocation of P50 billion for the military’s modernization program next year.
AFP spokesperson Col. Margareth Padilla said the increased budget to beef up the military’s logistics signified the government’s dedication for the enhancement of the country’s defense capabilities.
“The Armed Forces of the Philippines appreciates the commitment of the House of Representatives in allocating P50 billion for the AFP Modernization Program for next year. This increase, which is P10 billion higher than the previous year’s allocation, signifies the government’s dedication to enhancing our defense capabilities.” Padilla said in a statement.
According to Padilla, the additional funding will enable the AFP to continue its efforts in acquiring advanced technologies, improving capabilities in land, air, and sea operations, and addressing current security challenges.
"While this allocation is a positive step, the modernization of our forces is an ongoing process that requires sustained support," she added.
The AFP said it remains committed to utilizing these resources effectively to further strengthen national defense and security.
Padilla also said that further investments will be needed in the coming years to fully realize the AFP’s modernization goals.
“We look forward to the continued partnership with the government and other stakeholders to ensure that our forces are equipped and prepared to meet the evolving security demands of our country,” she said.
