The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has commended three security officers for their honesty after returning valuables left by passengers at the airports in Manila, Clark, and Tacloban.
OTS officer John Lloyd Reyes returned a luxury watch to its owner after it was left behind at the security screening checkpoint. A Korean traveler, who was going to Busan, South Korea via Jin Air flight LJ 066 on August 7 from Clark International Airport, owns the watch valued at P700,000.00,
Screening officer Joanne Ruales also found a watch left behind by a passenger on August 8 at Daniel Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City. She immediately announced the missing watch through the paging system, and minutes later, the owner appeared and claimed the item.
In Manila, another screening officer Darlene Ripalda returned a pouch containing $830 to a passenger bound for Iloilo via Cebu Pacific Airline flight number 5J 453 from Ninoy Aquino International Airport – Terminal 3.
Ripalda, the baggage inspector at the time of the incident, noticed a left-behind black pouch on the floor. The passenger returned to the security screening checkpoint to inquire about the missing pouch, and OTS personnel verified the ownership. The item was promptly returned to the passenger.
