MANILA, Philippines — Another Chinese research vessel was monitored conducting survey operations inside the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
Retired United States Air Force Col. Ray Powell, director of SeaLight, said on Friday that the Haiyang Dizhi Shi Hao has been in the area since August 14 north of Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal).
This is the second Chinese research vessel monitored inside the country’s EEZ.
Late last month, Ke Xue San Hao was sighted surveying the areas south and east of Escoda (Sabina) Shoal in the West Philippine Sea beginning July 25.
