MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has declared Aug. 30, a Friday, a special non-working day in San Juan City for the commemoration of Pinaglabanan Day.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the City of San Juan be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration,” Proclamation 649 stated.
The proclamation was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by the authority of President Marcos on Aug. 8.
Araw ng Pinaglabanan or the Battle of San Juan del Monte is considered the first major battle of the Philippine revolution, which sought the country’s independence from Spain.
