THE House of Representatives on Tuesday gave its final nod to the bill declaring Pampanga as the country’s culinary capital.

House Bill 10634 was approved on third and final reading with 201 lawmakers voting for it.

“The Province of Pampanga is hereby declared the ‘Culinary Capital of the Philippines’ in recognition of its contribution to the dynamic and rich culinary history of the country,” the bill read.

The bill mandates the Department of Tourism to “feature and promote” Pampanga as the country’s culinary capital “in all its regional and national promotion programs.”

Among the bill’s authors were former president and now Pampanga 2nd District Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, House Senior Deputy Speaker and Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales Jr., Pampanga 4th District Rep. Anna York Bondoc, and Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo Lazatin II.
