The highly successful CinePanalo Film Festival, mounted by Puregold, has officially released a shortlist of 16 full-length films — and their directors — that were selected from among 141 entries looking to take part in the second year of the competition.
Of the shortlisted established and up-and-coming filmmakers, only seven will be an integral part of the festival and each receive a P3 million production grant from Puregold.
“We are very impressed with the diverse range of film entries we’ve received for the full-length category,” said Puregold President Vincent Co.
“Our Selection Committee managed to curate an inspiring shortlist of projects that promise to captivate and provoke deep thought. We look forward to showcasing these remarkable ‘panalo’ stories and celebrating the unique perspectives they bring to the Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival,” he added.
The 16 shortlisted projects and their respective directors are: “Ahon,” Rafael Mina; “Co-love,” Jill Singson Urdaneta; “Dopamine,” Sigrid Polon; “Fleeting,” Catsi Catalan; “Food Delivery,” Baby Ruth Villarama; “Journeyman,” Christian Paolo Lat & Dominic Lat; “Olsen’s Day,” JP Habac; “Perlas sa Silangan,” TM Malones; “Princess Maryam,” Julius Alfonso & Eric Cabahug; “Reel Boyz,” Rod Marmol; “Sepak Takraw,” Mes De Guzman; “Si Sol at si Luna,” Dolly Dulu; “Stuck on You,” Reeden Fajardo; “Tagsibol,” Tara Illenberger; “Waiting Shed,” Noel Escondo; and “Washing Machine,” BC Amparado
The shortlist was decided by the festival’s official Selection Committee composed of Puregold senior marketing manager Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, festival director Chris Cahilig, renowned directors Jeffrey Jeturian and Emmanuel dela Cruz, and representatives of Republic Creative Creations, Inc. Sonny Bautista and Lyle Gonzales.
In the coming weeks, the shortlisted filmmakers will pitch their projects directly to the Selection Committee, after which an announcement will be made of the seven filmmakers that will participate in the 2025 Puregold CinePanalo.
The final selection of seven films will be screened at the Gateway Cineplex 18 in Cubao from March 14 to 25, 2025.
