A GROUP of companies and government entities has joined forces to explore the production and utilization of biomethane from dairy farm waste in Hamanaka town, Hokkaido.

The collaboration aims to convert animal manure into a clean burning fuel that can be used in factories and ships. By replacing traditional fossil fuels with biomethane, the partners hope to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to Japan’s net-zero goals.

The project will assess the feasibility of producing biomethane on a commercial scale and integrating it into existing energy infrastructure.
