The Department of Tourism (DOT) has awarded star ratings to The Oriental Legazpi and The Proxy by The Oriental, two prominent hotels in the Bicol Region.
The ratings were issued following thorough inspections and evaluations by tourism quality advisers and third-party auditors in June.
The Oriental Legazpi, a six-story hotel with 104 rooms and suites, received a renewed four-star rating. As the highest-ranked hotel in Bicol, it features a grand ballroom for 1,500 guests, two boardrooms, four event halls, multiple dining options, a spa, an infinity pool, a landscaped garden, a fitness center, and the St. Peregrine Chapel. The hotel, part of the LKY Group, reopened last year after a major renovation.
The Proxy by The Oriental, a five-story, 76-room boutique hotel near downtown Legazpi, achieved a three-star rating. It offers two dining outlets, a 200-person capacity theater, two function halls, a convention center accommodating 2,000 people, a swimming pool, and the Magayon Garden.
The star ratings reflect the hotels’ commitment to high service standards and guest satisfaction, aligning them with industry excellence. This system follows international practices to enhance the competitiveness of the hospitality sector.
Additionally, the hotel group announced it will offer lifetime complimentary stays to medalists from the recent Paris Olympics. The benefit includes overnight accommodation with breakfast for two persons at several properties, including The Oriental Legazpi and others.
Attendees at the star-rating award ceremony included DOT Region 5 Chief Tourism Operating Officer Rommel Natanauan, Proxy Operations Manager Grand Patrick Bruzo, The Oriental Hotels and Resorts Chief Operating Officer Robina Lee, Director of Property Development, Corporate Affairs, and Events Jon Neric, The Oriental Legazpi General Manager Ramil Lagrosa, and DOT Bicol Regional Director Herbie Aguas.
