NAVOTAS City Rep. Tobias Tiangco vowed full support for government aid programs included in the 2025 national budget.

Tiangco said the P253.3 billion allocated for government aid programs should be approved without delay so poor people could receive more help from the government.

“President Bongbong (President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.) announced in his third State of the Nation Address the expansion of Department of Health’s Cancer Assistance program and the proposal to allocate P1.205 billion for this initiative will greatly unburden Filipinos who suffer from this disease,” Tiangco added.

“It’s encouraging for Filipino families who rely solely on government aid to see these poverty-alleviating programs funded adequately,” Tiangco said in Filipino.

The Department of Budget and Management said P35.1 billion was allocated for Protective Services for Individuals and Families in Difficult Circumstances program, P4.1 billion for Sustainable Livelihood program, and P1.9 billion for Food Stamp program of the DSWD.

Meanwhile, P14.1 billion has been allocated for the Department of Labor and Employment’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers program.

Tiangco said that it is imperative for Congress to give its “full support for these programs because they can directly benefit poor Filipinos, provide economic relief, and give them opportunities to uplift their lives and that of their families.”
