The National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) has partnered with the SM Cares Foundation, Inc. for the opening of a new Book Nook at The Podium, Ortigas Center in Mandaluyong City.
Unveiled on August 15, the Book Nook aims to provide a special space for people to broaden their knowledge and foster a strengthened community. It also features a Philippine History corner, which includes numerous books donated by the NHCP to promote historical knowledge. Some of the books include copies of Dr. Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere.
The official opening of the Book Nook was attended by Historic Sites and Education Division Chief Gina C. Batuhan, as well as Research, Publication, and Heraldry Division Officer-in-Charge Christine Dulnuan, who represented the NHCP.
The commission announced that more projects between the two organizations are planned for the future to further promote the country’s history.
SM Supermalls established its first Book Nook at SM Aura in Taguig, which offers more than 3,000 books available for the public to read and swap.
